Shanahan was honored by the club for his accomplishments as a Nebraska Supreme Court and U.S. District Court judge, dedication to community service, and support for the University.
Board member Bob Mullin, who introduced Shanahan, spoke of his passion for the law, years of work with the homeless at the Stephens Center, and the Notre Dame fight song that played while a caller waited for him to answer. Shanahan, accompanied by his wife, children, and several grandchildren, was presented with a plaque and received a standing ovation from the crowd of approximately 90 attendees.
Later in the evening, university vice president and general counsel Marianne Corr, spoke about student life, changes around campus,
current and future initiatives, and fielded questions about her role with the university. Among other topics, including her decision to leave a prestigious law firm to take the general counsel position, she spoke about her ‘interesting’ experiences working out the final details for this year’s ND-Army game held at Yankee Stadium. “The Yankees were great,” she remarked with a smile, “but their lawyers…”
After closing remarks from club president John Menicucci, board chairman Tom Jenkins led the audience in the alma mater.

Meghan Gaule (’08) will be hosting a fundraising event for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society this Friday, April 17 at Barrett’s in Omaha. The event will take place from 7 pm - close. See Meghan’s description below.
I am doing a triathlon at the end of June through the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society’s Team in Training program, and as part of the event, each
person has to raise $2900 for cancer research. I am having a
fundraiser on Friday at Barrett’s from 7-close. I am hoping to have a
good turnout, so I’m trying to spread the word as best as possible!
There will be some raffles, beer pong, and hopefully some volleyball
if it’s nice out.
Swimming, biking, and running for a cure!
