We encourage you to sign up now and join for the 2010 Club year.  We are actively seeking more members and volunteers to assist with the Club events.  Keep your eye on the club’s website at www.ndclubomaha.com for additional news and updates on events.  GO IRISH!

Note from the President

Fellow ND Alums and Friends of Notre Dame,

2009 marked another fantastic year for our Club. Alumni of all ages and friends of Notre Dame came together and proudly proclaimed their loyalty to Our Lady’s University.  Thanks to all of the loyal members and welcome to those of you who have recently moved into the greater Omaha area. We appreciate the support.

We had another successful year of Club activities including a visit from Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick at UND Night; the Club Golf Outing at Field Club; club mass, the Student sendoff, and numerous young alumni social events.  We hope to make the 2010 Club year even more exciting with the upcoming events such as Universal Notre Dame Night which will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 with special guest speaker from Notre Dame - Vice President and General Counsel Marianne Corr.

Sincerely,  John Menicucci ‘98

Club President

Christmas Giving

It’s time to kick off our 5th Annual Christmas Giving efforts. The Notre Dame Club of Omaha would like to help others in our community enjoy a truly blessed Christmas season. With the difficult economic conditions this year, I know our efforts will be greatly appreciated.

Last year, Club members donated gifts for families, affecting a total of 78 family members; it was our largest effort yet. Our goal is to ‘adopt’ as many families as possible, giving them gifts such as food certificates, clothing, or children’s toys. The families often have wish lists to help guide the gift givers. If you are not comfortable adopting an entire family, we can split families amongst our group.  In addition, last year we donated countless warm weather items for the Salvation Army’s Winter Night Watch program.  Cash donations are welcome as well (we will do the shopping for you). All donations will be anonymous. Gifts do not have to be large in scale to make a difference.

Before I commit to the number of families we will adopt, I need feedback from you! We must relay our interest to the involved organizations as soon as possible. Gift donations will be due in ahead of the Christmas holiday in order to allow time to deliver the packages to the families. If your family would prefer to deliver your gifts directly, that can be arranged in most cases.
Please contact me (email below) if you are interested in adopting a family, part of a family, or would like to give a cash donation. Email Amy.Patterson@conagrafoods.com with any questions as well

Irish vs. Jays Matchup Possible

The Notre Dame men’s basketball team could potentially face the Creighton Blue Jays in Omaha this Wednesday. Tomorrow evening, the Jays square off against Kentucky in the 2nd round of the NIT tournament. If the Jays win, they’ll host the quarterfinal game against the Irish. Keep your hopes up and look for more information on this blog if the Jays win.
